High Efficiency Air Conditioner Options
Air conditioner efficiency is rated by SEER – Seasonal Energy Efficiency Ratio. The minimum mandated SEER2 rating currently is 13.4, and the top-rated models range up to 28. To be considered Energy Star Rated, a unit must achieve a SEER2 rating of >15.2. We can install a model that falls anywhere on this spectrum.
Air conditioners tend to last longer than furnaces, so it is not uncommon for us to replace units that are well over 20 years old. The efficiency of new units has vastly improved since minimum SEER ratings of 10.0 were mandated in 1992.
